Engineers at the McLaughlin Whitewater Design Group have contributed to the innovative design and support for the vision of Denver’s birthplace since the 1970’s, in the wake of The Flood. whose 50th anniversary will be remembered in June. Work taking place today represents a continuation of this longstanding relationship with Denver’s River as the renovation at Confluence Park leading to Shoemaker Plaza begins. This multiple part renovation is part of the 2011 River Vision Implementation Plan (RVIP).
Brooke Seymour and Rick McLaughlin are are responsible for the following in the current phase of construction:
- Flood hydraulics
- Scour analysis
- Bank stabilization and restoration
Aaron Asquith has assisted as the reviewer of the floodplain hydraulics, and Alex Gorsevski was involved in early planning.
This is the first construction project of several with which we are involved. Mike Galuzzi and Frances Davenport are working on the larger master planning effort for Confluence Park and the South Platte River, representing Team McLaughlin! Please join us in applauding the Greenway Foundation, City and County and all stakeholders as the long-planned river vision becomes a reality.
Other improvements on the South Platte in Denver are underway at
- Grant Frontier
- Pasquinel’s Landing
- Johnson-Habitat
- Weir Gulch
- Instream wrok adjacent to Overland Pond Golf Course
