Since the 1970’s the Nantahala River Gorge has distinguished itself, time and again, as a destination for rafting, paddling instruction and whitewater competition. Until recently, the opportunity to practices freestyle moves and watch high level freestyle competition has not exactly been an impressive draw. That’s about to change.
The McLaughlin Whitewater Design Group will be working for the committee that is being assembled to manage this tremendous undertaking. Participants include regional business owners, Duke Energy, and land management staff and will lead the charge to support whitewater modifications worthy of the 2013 Freestyle World Championships slated for September, 2013.
